Herpa rounds out the series commemorating the 50th anniversary of the McDonnell Douglas DC-10 with a new mold. 40 years ago, the first aerial tanker variant, the KC-10 "Extender", was handed over to the U.S. Air Force. 59 more aircraft followed by 1987. The tri-jet which can also be used as transport and flying ambulance can carry up to 160 tons of fuel in its air tanker role, almost twice as much as its predecessor, the KC-135, which is based upon the Boeing 707. Newly designed for this DC-10 model variant is the air refueling boom located along the centerline of the rear fuselage. This die-cast metal airplane model comes in 1/500 scale with landing gear no stand. Model is approximately 4 1/4 inches long with 4 inch wingspan.
