Initially introduced into service in 1990 as a tri-jet, wide-body airliner for commercial passenger service, the McDonnell Douglas MD-11F is the Freight transport variant of the MD-11 and is the last and longest manufactured version of the MD-11, delivered primarily to FedEx and Lufthansa Cargo along with UPS and Western Global Airlines from 1991 until 2001. Lufthansa Cargo was the last European carrier to fly the MD-11F, having been retired from service and replaced with the newer Boeing 777 in October 2021.
